Alrededor de 240 obras conforman la exposición Liturgias del Cuerpo. La mirada del coleccionista que abre en Casa Republicana de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango el jueves 19 de junio. La muestra, conformada por una selección de obras de la Colección Proyecto Bachué (María Victoria Turbay y José Darío Gutiérrez), propone una reflexión profunda sobre el papel del coleccionismo privado en la construcción del patrimonio cultural del país.
La exposición se articula en torno al cuerpo humano como eje central de la curaduría, objeto visual, conceptual y medio de expresión simbólica que encarna identidades, subjetividades, resistencias y espiritualidades. La curaduría de José Darío Gutiérrez se centra en el período histórico comprendido entre 1960 y 1980, en el que se destacan medios experimentales y alternativos de representación como el video, la fotografía y las artes gráficas.
Incluye obras de artistas internacionales como Keith Arnatt, Kate Kollwitz, Natalia Lach-Lachowicz, Arnold Belkin, Ana Mendieta, entre otros, y de artistas colombianos como Luis Ángel Rengifo, Leonel Góngora, Taller 4 Rojo, Rosa Navarro y Clemencia Lucena. Más información aquí »

Liturgias del cuerpo. La mirada del coleccionista, abre el jueves 19 de junio en los pisos 1 y 2 de la Casa Republicana, hasta el 23 de marzo de 2026.
Esta exhibición hace parte del programa La mirada del coleccionista del Banco de la República, con el que se busca acercar a los públicos a colecciones privadas y a través de ellas a la creación artística en el país.
Las obras reunidas en la exposición exploran el tema del cuerpo humano desde distintas perspectivas: territorio político, testigo de violencias, símbolo de resistencia o espacio de deseo.
La muestra incluye obras de artistas colombianos que dialogan con artistas de otras nacionalidades, particularmente de Europa oriental, al compartir historias de colonización y represión.
La exposición parte de obras representativas como I am a Real Artist (1969-72), del artista británico Keith Arnatt, y una selección de grabados de la serie Los desastres de la guerra de Francisco de Goya. Con ellas, se presenta el conjunto de 13 grabados sobre la Violencia del colombiano Luis Ángel Rengifo, el Portafolio La guerra y la paz, proyecto realizado por los artistas mexicanos Francisco Icaza y Arnold Belkin, y la xilografía La Violencia, de Alejandro Obregón. Estas referencias conducen a un extenso inventario corporal que se despliega a lo largo de la exposición.
Liturgias del cuerpo es la nueva exposición del programa La mirada del coleccionista, con el que el Banco de la República busca motivar el conocimiento y la reflexión sobre el coleccionismo privado y su aporte a la conformación y consolidación del patrimonio artístico y cultural del país.
La exposición explora las formas en que el arte y los artistas como agentes sociales y ciudadanos críticos abren espacios de diálogo en torno a temas fundamentales como la existencia humana, las condiciones sociales y políticas, la violencia y la identidad. Desde la perspectiva de Proyecto Bachué, el arte interviene directamente en el devenir social, desafiando la noción que lo sitúa exclusivamente como un objeto de apreciación estética.
La exposición Liturgias del cuerpo. La mirada del coleccionista ofrece distintas formas de presentación y representación del cuerpo en obras de arte de la Colección Proyecto Bachué, fechadas desde la década de 1960 a 1980 aproximadamente, período en el que la representación del cuerpo respondía subjetiva y colectivamente al desasosiego del país y del mundo polarizado y en guerra. En este marco temporal, se manifestaron medios experimentales y alternativos de representación, entre los que se destaca el video, la fotografía y las artes gráficas, que permitieron abordar temas de interés social y político.

Sobre el programa La mirada del coleccionista
Con el objetivo de acercar a diversos públicos a colecciones privadas, el Banco de la República creó el programa La mirada del coleccionista mediante el cual desarrolla distintas exposiciones en las que se puede apreciar el coleccionismo privado y resaltar su importancia, acceder a obras a las que normalmente no se tiene acceso y facilitar el conocimiento del patrimonio artístico del país. Dentro de este programa se destacan las exposiciones “El legado de Casimiro Eiger” (1995), “El ojo crítico de Hernando Santos” (2001), “La Colección Ganitsky Guberek, un homenaje a Marta Traba” (2002) y “Colección Maraloto” (2011).
En la exposición Liturgias del Cuerpo. La mirada del coleccionista, la línea central del proyecto y la selección de obras están determinadas por el cuerpo como registro de experiencias y memorias colectivas e individuales, una de las áreas de interés durante la conformación de la Colección Proyecto Bachué, de José Darío Gutiérrez y María Victoria Turbay, iniciada en 1982.

Proyecto Bachué es una plataforma de gestión que está enfocada en las artes plásticas y audiovisuales colombianas. Fundada en 2008 por María Victoria Turbay y José Darío Gutiérrez tiene como propósito contribuir a la formación de una ciudadanía crítica a partir de la promoción de las expresiones contemporáneas de creación, investigación y curaduría de las manifestaciones modernas.
La Colección Proyecto Bachué, una de las colecciones privadas más grandes en Colombia, se inició en 1982 y se ha ido construyendo a través de etapas de distinta intensidad. La colección total abarca desde los procesos de la conquista hasta el arte contemporáneo. Comienza con tempranos mapas de América y las vistas de los llamados viajeros, y se enfoca luego en el arte colombiano a partir de finales del siglo XIX, con especial énfasis en la modernidad. Se exploran temas como el paisaje, la tensión entre expresionismo y abstracción, el arte y la política, el arte conceptual y la exploración de la imagen y el cuerpo, al tiempo que se destacan medios como los impresos múltiples, el video y la fotografía. Además, para facilitar conexiones, se incluye un complemento latinoamericano e internacional. En esta oportunidad, el cuerpo humano, una de las áreas de interés durante la conformación de la colección, determina la línea central de la exposición.
