La Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá alcanzó un logro histórico para la medicina nacional y latinoamericana: la realización de 1.551 cirugías robóticas con el sistema da Vinci, consolidándose como uno de los centros de referencia en tecnología quirúrgica de mínima invasión, con resultados sobresalientes en la recuperación y calidad de vida de los pacientes.
De la cirugía tradicional a la robótica: una revolución en la atención médica
Desde la década de 1980, la cirugía robótica ha evolucionado para ofrecer intervenciones cada vez más precisas y seguras. A diferencia de la cirugía convencional, que requiere incisiones de hasta 15 centímetros y conlleva mayores riesgos de sangrado, dolor y hospitalización prolongada, la cirugía robótica da Vinci utiliza pequeñas incisiones de menos de un centímetro, cámaras con visión tridimensional y magnificación de 10x, e instrumentos con movilidad superior a la mano humana, articulación de 180° y rotación de 540°, lo que permite cortes y suturas de máxima precisión.
Estos avances se traducen en menos sangrado, menor dolor, reducción de complicaciones, estadías hospitalarias más cortas y una reincorporación más rápida a la vida diaria.
Un programa pionero y multidisciplinario
El programa de Cirugía Robótica de la Fundación Santa Fe inició el 14 de abril de 2015 con un procedimiento para el tratamiento del cáncer de próstata. Desde entonces, el área de urología ha liderado el desarrollo de esta tecnología, realizando el 90% de las cirugías de cáncer de próstata mediante el abordaje robótico, y recibiendo la certificación de Centro de Excelencia para el Cuidado del Cáncer de Próstata por la Joint Commission International (JCI).
Posteriormente, se sumaron las especialidades de ginecología —tratando cáncer de endometrio, miomas, endometriosis y otras patologías que afectan la fertilidad y calidad de vida de las mujeres— y cirugía general, con aplicaciones en cáncer gástrico, de colon y recto, hepático y pancreático, así como en cirugía bariátrica, reparación de hernias y reconstrucciones complejas del tracto urinario.
Resultados que marcan la diferencia
· 1.551 cirugías robóticas realizadas con éxito.
· 2 días: estancia hospitalaria promedio.
· 15 a 20 días: tiempo de recuperación funcional.
· 3 a 4 horas: duración promedio de cada cirugía.
· Pacientes con menor necesidad de transfusiones y cicatrices más pequeñas.
