Gracias a la edición 2024 del programa “Juntos por el Café”, Starbucks en Colombia entregó 5,000 árboles nativos a los caficultores de Huila.
Reforzando su compromiso de asegurar un futuro sostenible del café colombiano para todos, Starbucks, una de las marcas operadas por Alsea en Colombia, anunció la entrega de 5,000 árboles nativos a caficultores del Huila a través de su programa “Juntos por el Café” gracias a lo recolectado durante la edición 2024. Estos contribuirán a proporcionar sombra a las plantas de café, ayudando a regular la temperatura en los cultivos y a mejorar la calidad y rentabilidad del grano.
“Juntos por el Café” fue lanzado en 2022 por Starbucks Colombia, en colaboración con el Centro de Apoyo al Caficultor de Starbucks en Manizales, con el propósito de apoyar a caficultores a través de la reforestación y la capacitación en prácticas agrícolas sostenibles. Desde entonces, ha entregado árboles nativos en Nariño y Santander, y este último año impactó a 153 productores del municipio Garzón, en el Huila. La edición 2025 proyecta beneficiar a caficultores en Cundinamarca y Antioquia con la entrega de 6,000 árboles adicionales.
“A través del programa “Juntos por el Café” reafirmamos nuestro compromiso con los caficultores de Colombia, apoyando su bienestar, el de sus familias y comunidades, al tiempo que reforzamos nuestro compromiso de asegurar un futuro sostenible del café colombiano para todos” comentó Claudia Aburto, directora de Starbucks para Alsea en Sudamérica.
La entrega de los árboles fue posible gracias a las compras realizadas por los clientes durante los meses de julio y agosto 2024, quienes eligieron café 100% colombiano en formato de medios libra, Colombia Nariño, Colombia Medio y Espresso Roast. Por cada compra, Starbucks destinó un árbol nativo a esta causa, sumando así a sus esfuerzos por contribuir positivamente al medioambiente y a las comunidades de origen.
En 2023, se recolectaron 2.000 árboles adicionales destinados a productores del departamento de Santander, tras una fuerte sequía que afectó la región. Para 2024, la cifra ascendió a 5.000 árboles, entregados en Huila en 2025, y este 2026 se proyecta la entrega de 6.000 árboles en Cundinamarca y Antioquia, gracias a lo recolectado en 2025 por cada compra de media libra de café 100% colombiano (Colombia Nariño, Espresso Roast y Colombia Medio) realizada durante los meses de julio y agosto
