Desde ese día se podrá ver en pantalla grande el enfrentamiento descarnado de Ivy y Theo, interpretados por la actriz ganadora de un Oscar® y un premio Emmy®, Olivia Colman y el actor nominado al Oscar®, Benedict Cumberbatch. Theo es un arquitecto ambicioso, obsesionado con el diseño y la perfección. Ivy es una chef talentosa que ha construido su carrera desde cero, con una pasión admirable por la cocina. Se conocieron en la universidad y rápidamente se enamoraron. Tras casarse y tener dos hijos, se mudan a la costa oeste de Estados Unidos, donde Theo está a punto de consagrarse con su última obra maestra -un museo náutico de alto perfil en San Francisco– y Ivy abre su propio restaurante de mariscos. Pero su dinámica, marcada por la admiración mutua y la competencia silenciosa, comienza a fracturarse cuando el proyecto arquitectónico de Theo colapsa literalmente, mientras que Ivy alcanza un nuevo nivel de éxito profesional. Lo que comienza como sarcasmo elegante se convierte en ataques despiadados, y el lenguaje del amor se transforma en un campo de batalla.

Y es tan divertido, tan ingenioso y creativo” señala el actor británico Benedict Cumberbatch y describe a su personaje como un hombre que sabe lo que quiere y va por ello. “Me encanta su franqueza. Algunas de las decisiones que toma son devastadoras, algunas desgarradoras, algunas divertidas. Y, por momentos, él es su propio enemigo”, concluye el actor.
“Fue muy divertido odiarnos mutuamente. Hay algo bastante terapéutico en eso de llegar a ser absolutamente horrible con alguien, y luego, reírse mucho al respecto”, concluye Colman, con una sonrisa.
Para el director australiano Jay Roach, la colaboración en pantalla entre Colman y Cumberbatch, quienes son viejos amigos en la vida real, resultó ser una colisión alquímica. “Adoro el ingenio británico y estos dos están en la cúspide de ese humor. Arrogante, hipersexualizada y muy intensa, Amy tiene una particular dinámica con Barry, un abogado inmobiliario tan leal como incapaz. Jamie Demetriou es Rory, un arquitecto engreído, y Zoë Chao es su esposa y colega Sally, que puede resultar fría, serena y cruel.
