El Banco de Bogotá continúa liderando iniciativas de impacto social que refuerzan su compromiso con la educación infantil, consolidando su alianza con el Fondo de Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF). Este año, la entidad se suma nuevamente a la campaña Líderes por la Educación, una iniciativa que busca abordar la crisis de acceso a la educación de calidad en el país, a través de la unión de líderes empresariales y del sector público. Esta campaña promueve la transformación educativa en Colombia mediante el intercambio de conocimientos y la inversión de recursos.
Un estudio de la Universidad de los Andes y el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) reveló que la educación infantil en Colombia enfrenta grandes desafíos, ya que el 75% de los niños entre 8 y 10 años ha visto estancado su proceso de lectoescritura, el 44% de los menores de 5 a 7 años presenta dificultades similares, y según las pruebas PISA 2022 el 71% de los adolescentes de 15 años no alcanza los niveles mínimos en matemáticas, mientras que el 50% enfrenta problemas en lenguaje. Ante esta realidad, Líderes por la Educación busca financiar programas que fortalezcan la educación infantil, recuperen aprendizajes básicos y promuevan habilidades esenciales para el desarrollo de la niñez en Colombia.
“La inversión para fortalecer los aprendizajes básicos de la infancia es quizás la inversión que deja los más grandes retornos. Si aseguramos que los niños y niñas aprenden a leer y escribir, que entienden lo que leen, y que tengan unas bases sólidas de matemáticas estamos allanando un camino para su continuidad y éxito educativo. Por eso celebramos el compromiso de la empresa privada con la iniciativa Líderes por la educación y de nuestro socio, Banco de Bogotá, con este propósito de país”, aseguró Catalina Duarte, especialista de educación de UNICEF Colombia.
Desde el 2020, el Banco de Bogotá ha respaldado los programas de UNICEF a través la Tarjeta Débito UNICEF, la primera tarjeta en el mundo que beneficia a la niñez en Colombia y en la que los clientes destinan el 1% del valor de sus compras a los programas de UNICEF en Colombia, y el banco iguala su aporte, duplicando así los recursos para fortalecer iniciativas que facilitan el acceso a la educación de niños, niñas y adolescentes en situación de vulnerabilidad. Gracias a estos aportes, en 2024 se alcanzaron aproximadamente 74.780 tarjetas colocadas y más de 1.000 millones de pesos en donaciones, sumando el apoyo de los clientes y del banco. Estos recursos han fortalecido programas de educación en la primera infancia, aprendizajes funcionales y oportunidades para adolescentes en educación media. En total, más de 178.000 niños, niñas y adolescentes se han visto beneficiados.
“Estamos convencidos de que la educación es el motor del cambio. A través de iniciativas como la Tarjeta Débito UNICEF y nuestra participación en Líderes por la Educación, buscamos inspirar a más empresas y ciudadanos a unirse a esta causa y generar un impacto real en la sociedad. Desde las organizaciones, es fundamental identificar y promover oportunidades que contribuyan al bienestar de la niñez, integrando este propósito en nuestras estrategias”, afirmó María Claudia Naranjo – directora de Relaciones Corporativas del Banco de Bogotá.
